Micky Arison, the owner of the Miami Heat, recently took a playful jab at LeBron James‘s famous 2010 announcement during his own enshrinement speech at the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony.

In 2010, LeBron James made his highly publicized decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat during a televised special called ‘The Decision’. Alongside Chris Bosh, LeBron helped form the Heat’s “Big 3” with Dwyane Wade, a trio that promised to dominate the NBA for years. In his announcement, James famously declared, “Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven… when I say that, I really believe in it.”

While the Heat did indeed win back-to-back NBA titles in 2012 and 2013, the number of championships fell short of James‘ lofty prediction.

During Arison’s Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, he reminisced about the team’s formation and took a lighthearted dig at the infamous promise: “In 2010, with Dwyane Wade, LeBron, and Chris Bosh, we knew we could win. Not one, not two – I guess it was just two,” Arison joked, referencing the two titles the Heat won during LeBron‘s four-year tenure with the team.

The audience responded with laughter as they were reminded of LeBron‘s bold, yet slightly exaggerated, claim from over a decade ago. While the Heat may not have achieved the exact number of championships that James predicted, they certainly made their mark on NBA history with those two titles, and the joke was a fun reminder of the hype and expectations surrounding the Big 3 era in Miami.
